Timeline

You can browse the cathedral by century, starting with a 14th c. sculpture of the Virgin Mary, 15th c. murals, the 16th c. Mater Dolorosa or Our Lady of Antwerp.

The 17th c. is represented by Rubens’s four masterpieces. The large clock on the tower dates from the 18th century. We then plunge into the 19th century with the neogothic decoration, whereas the Metzler organ dates from the 20th century.

Jan Fabre’s work of The Man who Bears the Cross takes us back to the present but has already become part of the cathedral’s history.
