Traditionally, Gothic churches always face east to capture the first light of dawn.

The Christian faithful recognise Jesus Christ in the emerging light. He is the rising sun who drives out darkness from man’s heart. Hope prevails over defeatism. Good conquers evil. Life triumphs over death.
